PopChar no longer shows the recently used characters in a separate layout but rather displays them in a dedicated group at the top of the character table. The new version comes with a number of built-in layouts, but you can create your own layouts, and Ergonis also offers additional layouts for downloading from Ergonis website. Another major great features is the possibility to create custom layouts, which let you arrange and group characters according to your liking. This is a quick way to compare what the same character looks like in different fonts. Another great new feature is the Fonts tab, which shows a list of all fonts that contain the selected character. New in PopChar X 9 is also the option to assign custom names to characters and use these names for finding characters afterwards. New :PopChar is ready for Big Sur but it’s still perfect from Yosemite till the latest systems.A new Character Info window shows information about the character’s Unicode encoding as well as typographic properties. No more keyboard combinations to remember: everything is ready for you within a clic and you will see the keystroke combination on the bottom right of PopChar window.

It's very easy to use: just pop up the PopChar window (resizable: up to the full screen), click the desired character, and the character appears in your current document.
